Erik ten Hag hails Manchester United’s win over ‘really magnificent’ Tottenham

Erik ten Hag hailed Manchester United’s win over “a really magnificent team” in Tottenham as his team’s best performance of the season.

After a difficult start to the Dutchman’s tenure, United have now beaten Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs at Old Trafford under his watch and have eyes on the top four.

Fred and Bruno Fernandes put Conte’s side, who underwhelmed in a big away game again, to the sword on Wednesday night.

Beating another team with genuine aspirations of finishing in the upper echelons of the Premier League, however, is another sign of United’s progress.

Ten Hag’s side are now three points behind Chelsea ahead of their heavyweight meeting at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs, meanwhile, sit a further three points ahead and level on points with champions Manchester City, albeit having played a game more.

Speaking after the game, ten Hag said: “I think it was the best team performance so far this season.

“You can see we are still developing but you can see the way we want to play. Against Spurs as well, they are a really magnificent team and so difficult to play against this season."
