Erik ten Hag gives simple update on future after being congratulated for Manchester United job

Erik ten Hag has continued to put his focus on Ajax when asked about the Manchester United job.

Ten Hag is set to become United's next permanent manager and Ajax have already accepted the Dutchman will leave the club. United have settled on Ten Hag after his interview last month, in which it's understood he impressed football director John Murtough.

Ajax remain in contention for two trophies in the Netherlands and any announcement will be handled accordingly. Ten Hag, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, was keen to remind reporters that he is currently managing Ajax.

Ten Hag's press conference was dominated by reporters asking him questions about United. Ten Hag was even congratulated by a journalist for the 'move to United' and he was asked why he was 'keeping quiet' about the latest reports.

“Because I serve Ajax. We need to win the two remaining trophies," Ten Hag responded.

Ten Hag was also asked why he was afraid of announcing his departure and he understandably gave another short answer.

“I am not afraid. I will repeat myself one more time. Do you have questions about the cup final? About Ajax," he said.
