Erik ten Hag denies Manchester United rumour as Ajax boss declares 'that is not true'

Erik ten Hag has denied he's been practicing speaking English in preparation for a move to Manchester United.

The highly-rated Ajax boss has been widely touted as one of two top contenders to take the job at Old Trafford next season.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has also been heavily linked with the position.

Reports emerged last week that Ten Hag had already spoken with United via intermediaries and that he was brushing up on his language skills ahead of a Premier League switch.

But the Dutchman insists "that is not true".

He told BT Sport: "No, that is not true. We talk English in the club because we have a lot of foreign players. In Holland [they're] well educated in English."

Ajax play Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night and, pre-match, Ten Hag insisted that is his only focus.

He added: "This is about today's game and that's what I'm focusing on. I don't care about other issues, I just focus on Ajax against Benfica."
