Erik ten Hag confirms he will ‘deal’ with Cristiano Ronaldo going inside early during Manchester United win

Erik ten Hag confirmed he will address Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to walk down the tunnel before the end of the match as Manchester United beat Tottenham at Old Trafford.

It was a night to remember for United as they produced their best display of the season, Fred and Bruno Fernandes getting the goals in a 2-0 win that could easily have been more dominant but for the form of Hugo Lloris.

Ronaldo was an unused substitute and was seen walking down the tunnel to head inside a few minutes before the final whistle.

Ten Hag was of course not particularly keen for that to be the focus after the match following his side’s impressive performance, as he insisted talks with Ronaldo could wait.

“I’ve seen him, I didn’t speak to him after,” Ten Hag told Amazon Prime Video.

“I will deal with that tomorrow, not today. Today we celebrate this victory and now we have to recover from this.”

On the pitch, it was a night full of positives as they dominated Spurs from the opening stages and remained on top throughout the match, producing 19 shots in the first-half alone as they threatened to inflict a heavy defeat on the visitors.

Ten Hag’s side have secured impressive wins on home soil already this season, largely through sitting back and pouncing on the counter. This was a far more complete performance as they posed a real threat in the final third.

“We had some other good performances, Liverpool and Arsenal, but today you could see we have developed,” the United boss said.

“You can see the last weeks we are growing in the season and are more proactive in and out of possession.”
