Erik ten Hag will not settle on ourtright second and third-choice goalkeepers at Manchester United with the signing of Jack Butland.
Crystal Palace goalie Butland is on the verge of completing a loan move until the end of the season and United already have former England international Tom Heaton to provide back-up to David de Gea.
Heaton, 36, has only played once for United since rejoining the club 18 months ago but the academy graduate could make a long-awaited full debut in the League Cup quarter-final against Charlton on Tuesday.

Although Butland, 29, is seven years Heaton's junior, he was third-choice at Palace and Heaton spent the majority of last season behind De Gea and Dean Henderson in the pecking order.
"I never work like that," Ten Hag clarified. "We now have three goalkeepers, they are all experienced, they can all be one, two, three but it's quite clear David at this moment, it's about his long time at Manchester United, he is clearly the No.1.
"Tom has many times been on the bench and he had bad luck when he was injured for the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa. Martin was keeping and doing very well.
"Now the situation with Jack Butland coming in, I have to see his performance in training but the Carabao Cup is coming quick and then we will make a choice.
"Tom is, of course, the more adapted to our way of play, he is more connected with the dressing room and the team. But I have to make a decision on Tuesday."
