Erik Lamela hits back after Sky Sports commentator noticed what he did during Burnley clash

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela has hit out at Sky Sports commentators after his side's win over Burnley on Monday night.

Jose Mourinho's side were 1-0 winners at Turf Moor with Heung-Min Son scoring the night's winning goal, assisted by (you guessed it) Harry Kane.

But Argentine midfielder Lamela was said to be lucky to stay on the field by commentators for his tackle on Burnley's Dwight McNeil.

That tackle has since been described by Spurs fans as 'Burnleying Burnley', but did not leave some Clarets fans best pleased as he appeared the follow through with his studs raised.

That left McNeil on the ground receiving treatment and plenty of time for co-commentator Andy Hinchcliffe to discuss the incident.

VAR did look at the foul but no action was taken towards Lamela.

Speaking on social media after the game, former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason said: "Co-comms on Sky [are] pretty anti-Spurs tonight. Clean sheet and away win at Burnley is a good result."

Fellow ex-Tottenham man Graham Robers replied: "You['re] right Ryan Mason, the tackle by Erik Lamela was a great tackle and the co-commentator said lucky not to be sent off, what game was he watching?"

And that led to Lamela responding, saying: "Of course, 100%, great tackle."

The result has lifted Spurs to fifth in the Premier League, leapfrogging Leeds United and Southampton.

Son's goal saw him extend his season tally to eight while the assist from Kane means he has now been directly involved in 19 Tottenham goals in just 749 minutes.

Burnley, meanwhile, dropped into the relegation zone with the defeat.
