The tandem of Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster in Pittsburgh might’ve been the most dangerous wide receiver duo in the NFL. They each caught more than 100 passes and combined for 2,723 yards and 22 touchdowns, proving to be a deadly combination for the Steelers.
They’ve since been broken up by the trade that sent Brown to the Raiders and things have gone straight downhill since then. Sub-tweets on Twitter have been exchanged by Smith-Schuster and Brown, beginning a war of words on social media.
On Sunday, things came to a boil when Brown called out Smith-Schuster for his fourth-quarter fumble in Week 16 against the Saints – a game the Steelers had to win.
Twitter ripped Brown for calling out Smith-Schuster with Justin Reid of the Texans even saying he can’t wait to “smash” the Raiders wide receiver.
Rams safety Eric Weddle backed Reid up and said he has “no respect” for Brown.
Weddle’s tweets about the situation didn’t end there. He also replied to a handful of other posts, coming to the defense of Smith-Schuster.
He even went as far as to call Brown “childish” for his tweets.
Weddle faced both Brown and Smith-Schuster the last two years while playing with the Ravens, but he won’t get to square off with the new Raiders receiver in 2019. The Rams play the Steelers on the road next season, but after facing Oakland last season, they won’t play the Raiders in 2019.
