Eric Weddle in concussion protocol but says he’s ‘good as gold’

There was plenty of concern about Los Angeles Rams safety Eric Weddle after he left the game in the first half. He took a knee to the head and suffered a laceration on his head, which left Weddle’s face bloodied as he was taken off the field.

He was evaluated for a concussion and never returned, but on Sunday afternoon, he shared an encouraging update on Twitter. Weddle says he’s “good as gold” and thanked everyone for their well wishes.

After the game, Sean McVay shared an update on the Rams safety. He said Weddle is in the concussion protocol and there will be an update on his status Monday after further evaluation.

It was a scary hit, especially after seeing the result of the play with Weddle’s face bloodied. It’s good to hear that he’s doing well, however, and hopefully the Rams will have him back on the field in time for next Sunday’s game against the Saints.
