Eric Weddle has 75-1 odds to win American Century Celebrity Golf Championship

With just a few weeks left until teams report for training camp, players are taking the last of their vacations and rounding out their summer breaks. Eric Weddle is remaining competitive this offseason, though, participating in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe.

It’s one of the marquee celebrity golf tournaments of the year, getting big names such as Tony Romo, John Smoltz, Charles Barkley, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Steph Curry and countless others. Weddle is in the field for the first time and it seems his golf game is pretty good.

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, Weddle has 75/1 odds to win the whole thing. Those may not be great odds, but he’s tied for the 20th in the massive star-studded field. Players with the best odds are Romo (5/2), Mark Mulder (3/1), Smoltz (6/1), Kyle Williams (8/1) and Mardy Fish (8/1). Curry is also tied for sixth at 15/1. Barkley has the worst odds of any player at 7500/1.

Weddle was a good baseball player back in his younger years and is an all-around great athlete. He’s had plenty of time to practice his golf game this offseason, too, going to the driving range alone pretty frequently.

Weddle is grouped with fellow defensive backs for the first round on Friday, playing alongside Charles Woodson and Kyle Fuller. Needless to say, there will be no lack of things to talk about during their round.
