Eric Weddle carted off after knee to helmet leaves him bloodied

Eric Weddle joined the Los Angeles Rams and immediately became a leader in the secondary. Unfortunately, he was forced to exit his debut with the Rams after taking a knee to the side of the helmet in the first quarter.

Christian McCaffrey attempted to hurdle Weddle, but his knee drove into Weddle’s head. After lying on the ground for a little while, Weddle sat up and removed his helmet. He was bleeding heavily after the hit and had to be carted off the field.

Here’s a look at the result of the play.

Before the injury, Weddle had made six tackles in the game. He was replaced by Marqui Christian at safety.

Weddle was initially ruled doubtful to return with a head laceration, but the Rams later declared him out for the game. He’s being evaluated for a concussion.
