Eric Weddle, Andrew Whitworth make cut in Top 100 Players of 2019

NFL Network kicked off its annual list of the top 100 players in the league this week, which is voted on by players themselves. It always causes some controversy each year because players are often ranked way too low or far too high – as is the case with every list.

Players ranked 91-100 were unveiled on Monday night and two Rams were in that group. Eric Weddle was the first player revealed this year, coming in at No. 100. Andrew Whitworth was nine spots ahead at No. 91.

Here’s what Whitworth and a few other players said about Weddle.

Weddle wasn’t ranked last year but he was No. 92 in 2014 and No. 86 in 2015. He’s coming off a strong season with the Ravens, but he didn’t have a single interception in 2018. Still, he’s clearly viewed as one of the best safeties in football.

Whitworth is certainly deserving of being on the top 100 list and you could even argue he deserves to be higher on it. Last year, he was ranked 87th and in 2016, players voted him the 67th-best player in football.

It’s a good start for the Rams, who should have several more players make the list.
