Eric Reid disputes the idea that Colin Kaepernick lost his job to Blaine Gabbert

Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick have reached a settlement with the NFL over their grievances. Only one of them is on a roster, though. Reid recently signed a three-year deal with the Panthers but Kaepernick hasn’t had any reported interest since Seattle last spring. The Seahawks apparently postponed Kaepernick’s interview after he declined to answer if he’d stop his kneeling protests.

According to Kaepernick’s attorney Mark Geragos, the Panthers and New England Patriots would be ideal landing spots. His comments during an appearance on CNN brought Kaepernick’s name back into some headlines connected with Carolina.

Addressing the possibility of signing Kaepernick in a question and answer article, team reporter Bill Voth claimed Kaepernick lost his starting QB job to Blaine Gabbert with the 49ers. Reid didn’t agree and took to Twitter to set the record straight about Kaepernick’s history of surgeries. He also said that Kaepernick is in the best shape of his life.

The Panthers have been dealing with an injured Cam Newton, who may or may not have a healthy shoulder next season — so a solid backup is needed.

Kaepernick would be a controversial and costly move, but he is a viable option from a QB talent/fit standpoint.
