While the Golden State Warriors were staying active in the free-agent market with the signings of Brad Wanamaker and, the Utah Jazz were busy inking their All-Star guard to a reported max contract extension.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Donovan Mitchell has agreed to sign a five-year, $195 million max contract extension with Utah.
Over his three seasons in the association, the Louisville Cardinals product is averaging 22.7 points on 43.9% shooting from the field with 4.1 rebounds, four assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Mitchell caught fire during Utah’s run in the Orlando Bubble playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. Despite losing the series in seven games, the 24-year-old guard averaged 36.3 points on 52.9% shooting from the field with five rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Along with shooting 51.6% from beyond the arc on 9.1 long-distance attempts per game, Mitchell notched two scoring performances with over 50 points and one 44 point effort.

After Mitchell signed his reported deal with Utah, a member of the Golden State Warriors forward chimed in with a message on Twitter. According to Eric Paschall, the next time he meets up with Mitchell for dinner, the newly-signed Jazz guard will have to pick up the tab.

Paschall and Mitchell grew up as teammates on AAU teams in Westchester County, New York. The two childhood friends often go back-and-forth on social media.
