Eric Murray has knee surgery, could still return this season

Browns defensive back Eric Murray will miss at least the Week 9 matchup with the Denver Broncos after undergoing knee surgery on Friday.

The Browns announced Murray’s surgery as the team departed for Denver. The procedure was described as a minor arthroscopic surgery performed at University Hospital in Cleveland.

Murray suffered the knee injury in practice on Wednesday. Per Ohio.com, the Browns are optimistic Murray can return before the end of the season and his status will be week-to-week. He will not be placed on injured reserve.

The versatile defensive back has been on the field for nearly two-thirds of the Browns’ defensive snaps this season. He has played both cornerback and safety and would have filled in for injured Damarious Randall at free safety in Denver.
