Eric Dier, Serge Aurier and the 4 other players Tottenham could sell to raise funds this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have a big few months ahead.

With Jose Mourinho's men still in the battle for a top four finish in the Premier League and in the last 16 of both the Champions League and the FA Cup, there is plenty for Spurs to play for in the run-in.

But how Spurs fare over the next few months could have a big impact on what Mourinho is and isn't able to do in the transfer market this summer.

For example, if Tottenham miss out on Champions League qualification next season, it could have a negative impact on the calibre of players they are able to attract.

Tottenham transfer window verdict

That could lead to Tottenham needing to sell some players from the squad to raise funds for a summer overhaul, with Mourinho likely to want to put his own stamp on the squad that he inherited when he replaced Mauricio Pochettino.

So with that in mind, we take a look at the stars who could be sold in the summer transfer window.

Danny Rose

The England full-back's future at Tottenham looks increasingly uncertain.

Rose has joined Newcastle United on loan for the rest of the season, with the left-back finding his opportunities limited in recent weeks under Mourinho.

The defender has hinted that he has not been happy at Tottenham, despite saying in November that he would not be going anywhere as he opened up on his future in an interview with the Standard.

Rose's current contract at Spurs runs out in the summer of 2021, but if his comments now are to be believed he may want to make the move to Newcastle permanent at the end of the loan deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: "I'm just looking forward to being involved and feeling part of a squad again and making my debut in front of 50,000 fans will be very special. Something I'm looking forward to.

"I'm going to make the most of it now I'm back up north and I'm looking forward to enjoying life again."

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has also hinted at possibly making the move permanent, with the Magpies boss not ruling out a move in the summer.

If he were to be sold by Spurs this summer, it is likely that the north London side would want at least £10million for the full-back.

Serge Aurier

There was plenty of speculation over the future of the Ivory Coast international last summer.

Despite Kieran Trippier leaving to join Atletico Madrid, Aurier was also linked with a move away, with the Ivorian making it clear that he wanted to leave.

A move failed to materialise though and he stayed in north London, with Aurier since establishing himself as Jose Mourinho's regular right-back.

The Ivorian has started to find some consistency in recent weeks and the fact he is a key part of the head coach's side may seem him stick around.

However, if he still wants to leave, he would still be a saleable asset for Spurs at the age of 27 and with two years remaining on his contract, with the right-back likely to command a fee in excess of £15million.

Kyle Walker-Peters

The young right-back sealed a move away last month as he joined Southampton on loan for the remainder of the season.

He was linked with Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Southampton, with reports that he could be sold for around £15million.

The 22-year-old is some way down the pecking order with Mourinho and it's probably best he moves on in the summer as he just won't get the minutes at Spurs.

However, much will depend on how he fares at Southampton, who are likely to be in the market for a right-back this summer, with Cedric Soares out of contract.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The American international is yet to feature for Spurs in the Premier League.

He has had various loan spells in recent seasons, including at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City.

He was recalled from a loan spell at Stoke City last month, before going back out on loan to join Championship side Luton Town.

It is looking increasingly unlikely that he will force his way into Mourinho's plans and he might be on the move permanently come the summer.

With no Premier League experience and with only 12 months left on his contract at Spurs, he is unlikely to command a big fee, but at 22, he could still be of interest for Championship sides.

Victor Wanyama

The Kenyan international is clearly not in Mourinho's plans at Tottenham.

He has only played once since Mourinho took charge, in the 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the dead rubber in the Champions League group stage.

He was linked with a loan move to former club Celtic before the transfer deadline, but that failed to materialise.

Wanyama has been dogged by injury problems over the past few years and needs a fresh start elsewhere.

But his wages are likely to be an issue for interested clubs, and Spurs are unlikely to receive the £11million they paid to sign the Kenyan from Southampton in 2016.

He will have 12 months left on his contract this summer, but Spurs may have to revisit his options to move him on.

Eric Dier

Mourinho is a huge fan of Dier, and he has featured 20 times for the club this season.

But he has been out of form for large periods in recent seasons, and will be out of contract at the end of next season.

At 26, the England international would still be likely to command a sizeable fee, if Spurs were to sell him.

And with Gedson Fernandes now at the club to compete with the likes of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele, he may look for pastures new in the summer.

There are, of course, more valuable assets within the Tottenham squad, including the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, but these are unlikely to be sold.

Jan Vertonghen is also out of contract this summer, and could leave on a free transfer as things stand, with no new contract being signed.
