Eric Dier sends brilliant social media message after toilet dash in Tottenham's win over Chelsea

Eric Dier has revealed why he dashed off the field during Spurs' penalty shootout win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and has even sent a brilliant social media message on the back of the incident.

Dier was spotted sprinting off the field and down the tunnel during the second half, manager Jose Mourinho chasing him into the home dressing room.

The common consensus was that Dier needed to use the toilet urgently, and the Spurs star has now confirmed that was indeed the case.

"He (Mourinho) wasn't happy but there was nothing I can do about it, nature was calling!" he said with a laugh to Sky Sports.

"I heard there was a chance when I wasn't on the pitch but thankfully they didn't score.

"We have had a lot of tight games with Chelsea and they haven't fallen our way but thankfully this one fell our way.

Dier added: "Obviously, after playing on Sunday and they tonight, it wasn't easy.

"Maybe that was one of the reasons I had to run off the pitch in the second half."

Dier won the Man of the Match award for his performance against Chelsea and posted a brilliant picture on Instagram after the game with the Man of the Match award on top of the toilet, accompanied by toilet roll.

Speaking about the win over Chelsea specifically, Dier said: "I'm so happy and proud of the way we played apart from the first 20 minutes when we gave them too much time and respect.

"We were fantastic for the rest of the game. The work ethic was amazing."
