Eric Dier has been ruled out of England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro on Tuesday night.
Tottenham midfielder Dier limped out of the Three Lions victory over Czech Republic on Friday evening.
Dier was replaced by Ross Barkley in the 17th minute having received treatment on the pitch for a muscle injury.
Gareth Southgate started Dier alongside Jordan Henderson and Dele Alli in a three-man midfield.
And if the England boss wants to keep the successful formation he could call on Barkley to take his place, with Declan Rice and James Ward-Prowse also primed.
Southgate said: "I think he will go back to his club. Hopefully not to serious, bit of a muscular injury but he won't be right for our second game."
Spurs will also be keeping a close eye on Dier's fitness with a crucial clash in their fight for a top four place against Liverpool coming up on March 31.
Dier has only managed 23 appearances for Spurs this season with 16 of them coming in the Premier League.
England completed a 5-0 thrashing of the Czechs at Wembley with Raheem Sterling crashing a stunning hat-trick.
Manchester City winger Sterling opened the scoring when he poked in Jadon Sancho's low cross in the 24th minute, before Harry Kane slotted home a penalty to double the lead just before half-time.
Sterling then bagged his 23rd and 24th goals for club and country this season after the break to complete his hat-trick.
