Eric Dier and Nuno Espirito Santo are getting their deserved praise after strong Tottenham start

Tottenham centre back Eric Dier and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo are two of the ten nominated for Premier League awards this month.

The 27-year-old defender has had a flying start to the season, putting in some solid performances at the back alongside Davinson Sanchez.

The England international is up against five other nominees for the EA Sports Player of the Month award, including: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea), Michail Antonio (West Ham), Said Benrahma (West Ham), Demarai Gray (Everton) and Mason Greenwood (Manchester United).

Dier has featured in all of Tottenham's opening Premier League fixtures so far this season, as well as featuring in the starting XI for the Europa Conference League second leg against Pacos de Ferreira.

Before the season began, Spurs fans may have been slightly worried about the pair at the back, as they have received criticism in the past for their mistakes, but they haven't disappointed so far.

Although the centre-back pair have both had strong starts to the season, Sanchez has arguably been slightly better than his Spurs teammate.

Antonio is currently the top goal scorer in the division after three games with four goals, closely followed by Greenwood on three. With all six players putting on solid performances in the first month of this campaign, it could be a close competition, but Dier may just miss out on the award.

Espirito Santo could not have hoped for a better start to the 2021/22 season, after he was appointed as Tottenham head coach in June.

He has led his team to the top of the league after three back-to-back wins and qualified for the group stage of the Europa Conference League.

The Portuguese head coach has also brought in some new signings to North London, who he hopes will help Spurs continue their recent success.

Espirito Santo is up against West Ham's David Moyes, Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel and Rafa Benitez at Everton, for the Barclays Manager of the Month.

With three out of the four shortlisted manager's teams currently in the Premier League's top four, it will be a tight contest. However, the Spurs head coach stands a very good chance of picking up what would be a deserved award for his start at the club.

You can vote for both Player of the Month and Manager of the Month, with the deadline being Monday, September 6 (11am for player and 12pm for manager). The winners will then be announced on Friday September 10.
