Eric Dickerson: If Rams put new logo on helmet, it’ll ‘be a disaster’

Eric Dickerson was like most Rams fans on Monday afternoon: He didn’t quite care for the team’s new logo set. It was a drastic change for the franchise, transitioning away from the ram head as the primary logo and focusing more on the L.A. branding.

This was just the first step in the team’s redesign, too. The next unveiling will come later this spring when the team releases its new uniforms. The Rams are keeping the classic royal and yellow color scheme, which was a positive takeaway for a majority of fans and should make the uniforms pop.

However, Dickerson has one request when it comes to this redesign: Don’t put the new logo on the helmet.

“The logo, nah, I’m not feeling it. I just don’t like it,” Dickerson told Doug Gottlieb on FOX Sports Radio. “And I hope to god that they don’t change the logo on the helmet – you know, put that on the helmet. Because if they put that on the helmet, that’s going to be a disaster.”

He’s not wrong, either. Throughout this entire process, Kevin Demoff and the Rams have emphasized the importance of the horns and keeping them as an iconic part of the brand. That in mind, it’s hard to imagine the team putting the L.A. logo on the helmet to replace the horns.

With one of the most unique helmets in the NFL, the Rams can’t afford to upset fans even more by taking the horns off the helmet.
