The Eric Cantona egg saga took another twist today after the Manchester United legend posted a follow-up picture on Instagram.
Cantona’s bizarre and explicit post of an egg being broken by a man’s genitals broke the internet – and people’s souls – before it was eventually deleted from his account.
And on Thursday, the French ex-footballer and actor broke his silence.
He posted a picture of a banana resting on top of an egg.
The image was simply captioned: “Censured?”
It had not been clear whether Cantona or Instagram was responsible for removing the original post on Wednesday, though the caption suggests it was the social media giant.
The post had prompted a combination of outrage, bemusement and hilarity on social media.
One user, Tony Cuddihy, issued an apology on Twitter after he watched the clip in a busy restaurant.
