Manchester United club legend Eric Cantona has posted a video on Instagram jokingly announcing himself as the club's new manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure earlier this week.
The 55-year-old professional footballer turned actor, has teased the Reds fan base as he posted the clip earlier today to his near 1m fans over on social media.
United, who parted ways with Norwegian boss Solskjaer on Sunday, announced former midfielder Michael Carrick will take over as caretaker boss until a suitable interim coach can be found.
The Old Trafford club wanted to bring in Mauricio Pochettino as their 'first choice', but have settled on Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager, though they may approach Pochettino in the summer.
With the post captioned: ''Breaking news,'' the former French international continues with, ''Hello my friends. I would like to tell you, in exclusivity, that I am the new manager of Manchester United.''
"I will tell you later the name of my great staff. See you soon."
With some wishful United fans hoping the news was indeed truth rather than made in mere jest, it has however received over 125,000 views in just over an hour since being posted.
Cantona, who enjoyed large spells of success with with United between 1992 and 1997, was adored by the Reds faithful and is widely regarded as one of the reason's for the club's upturn under long standing manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.
With the now Hollywood actor seemingly away from football for good since his retirement back in 1997, chants of his name can still be heard ringing out upon the terraces around Old Trafford, as his impact in Manchester seemingly never forgotten.
