Eric Bieniemy Reacts to LeSean McCoy’s Heavy Criticism

The Commanders introduced new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy on Thursday and he addressed the scathing criticism he received from LeSean McCoy upon getting the new job.

Bieniemy coached McCoy when he was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. On Monday, he said Bieniemy “has nothing to do with the pass game at all” and he “has no real responsibility” when coaching players in Kansas City.

“LeSean McCoy is a future Hall of Famer,” he told reporters. “Everybody’s entitled to their own position, to their own comments and how they feel. When it’s all said and done with, I think that’s all I have to say because he’s entitled to his own opinion. That’s life.”

He went on to say the criticism “doesn’t impact me in any way.”

Bieniemy, who was originally Kansas City’s running backs coach from 2013 to ’17, appeared to be the only one to not take issue with the comments. Former Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles publicly disagreed with McCoy’s comments on Twitter and defended Bieniemy. Meanwhile, former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill took a more lighthearted approach and simply teased McCoy.

“Shady mad Eb told him tuck that ball,” Hill said via Twitter, along with a laughing emoji.

McCoy responded to both players on Twitter and doesn’t appear to be backing down.
