Eric Bailly spotted in knee brace as Manchester United players arrive home after pre-season tour

Manchester United's Eric Bailly has been pictured wearing a brace on his leg and in a wheelchair as the squad touched down at Manchester Airport following their pre-season tour.

It was a largely successful trip to Australia, Singapore and China for United, who won four games out of four, beating Perth Glory, Leeds United, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.

The tour, however, ended on a slightly sour note against Spurs when Bailly was taken off on a stretcher just a few minutes after coming on as a substitute. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed afterwards the defender's knee injury "doesn't look great".

The injury was confirmed as a twisted knee, with Solskjaer adding:  "We’ve got to do some scans and checks on him. It doesn’t look great."

It is another slice of horrible luck for Bailly, who missed the majority of last season with injury. This latest setback appears serious as the 25-year-old was assisted by airport staff as United's squad arrived back in the United Kingdom after almost three weeks on tour. They were pictured at Terminal One of Manchester's airport.

United have yet to confirm a potential return date for Bailly, or whether his injury may accelerate a transfer for Leicester City's Harry Maguire. United are interested in the centre back and have already seen a £70million bid rejected.

United's next pre-season game is in Oslo against Norwegian outfit Kristiansund, before they take on AC Milan in Cardiff, the game before their Premier League season curtain raiser against Chelsea at Old Trafford on August 11th.
