Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has thanked supporters for their messages of support after he was released from hospital following his worrying-looking head injury on Sunday.
The Ivorian defender twice needed treatment at the end of the first half of his side's 3-1 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final after first colliding with Kurt Zouma and then again with his teammate Harry Maguire.
After the latter incident he left on a stretcher wearing a neck brace and was taken to a nearby hospital, but fortunately was in a suitable condition to be released later that evening.
Bailly took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to express his gratitude for the good wishes that had been sent his way by fans.
He posted a picture of himself with his thumb up along with the caption: "Thank you for all the messages of support. I am ok, it was just a scare. I feel the pain of yesterday's defeat even more. But we have to get back up and refocus on the two big games we have this week."
It is not yet clear whether he will be involved in the remainder of United's Premier League campaign, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to host West Ham on Wednesday ahead of a do-or-die clash with Leicester on Sunday which could ultimately decide whether they are playing Champions League football next season or not.
Bailly has been plagued with injury problems ever since he joined United in 2016, so it will come as a huge relief to both him and supporters of the club that no long-term damage seems to have been done.
The player was ruled out for five months at the start of the season after needing knee surgery, while he also missed three months of the 2017-18 campaign with ankle issues.
