Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's (PLO) executive committee Saeb Erekat warned Thursday that the US administration won’t bring peace to anyone, accusing it of working towards the stage post the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Golan Height.
“Annexation of the West Bank will be the next step. After that the recognition of the State of Gaza under Hamas Flag,” Erekat tweeted. "Hope for peace, no more,” he added.
He affirmed that US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have doomed the region to live by the sword for long decades to come because of their decisions to consider Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to recognize the Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights.
During his meeting with ambassadors, consuls, and representatives from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, Russia, Norway, and Switzerland, he said that pushing the international community to post-international law era means expanding the violence circle, chaos, violence, and bloodshed.
Erekat said that the dignity of Arabs can’t be measured by the criteria of deal makers and real estate businessmen, even if this seemed possible to Trump.
Commenting on statements made by the US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, that Israel has the right over the security in the West Bank, he stressed that Arabs won’t allow this situation to continue.
The Palestinian official urged the international community to confront those policies and practices and demanded to end the division since national reconciliation is a supreme national Palestinian interest.
