Ereck Flowers avoids talk about penalties as to avoid a fine from the NFL

With the way that the NFL has been fining players for speaking out against the officiating this season, Washington Redskins left guard Ereck Flowers is smart to keep his mouth shut.

After his team fell to the San Francisco 49ers, 9-0, Flowers was asked about what he thought of some of the flags that were called on his team. Rather than discuss a few of the questionable calls, Flowers noted that he would like to be able to send his kids to college one day down the road, and these multi-thousand dollar fines are not worth it in the end.

In the past few days, the NFL has fined several notable players for speaking out against the referees, including Baker Mayfield and Clay Matthews. Flowers could have been added to that list, but he was smart enough to move onto the next question.
