In the run-up to 8 June, Guardian journalists will be reporting in-depth on a range of constituencies around the country, with the aim of telling stories about the election that come from beyond the political bubble. As part of that project, Nazia Parveen will be reporting from the parliamentary constituency of Erdington.
Erdington is one of ten constituencies in Birmingham and consists of the wards of Erdington, Tyburn, Stockland Green and Kingstanding. It has a population of just under 100,000. Erdington has a rich industrial past but since the demise of Fort Dunlop – a booming tyre factory which at its peak employed 10,000 – it has struggled economically.
Jack Dromey MP (Labour) represents the constituency. Labour’s majority was 5,129 in 2015. But this makes it a seat the Conservatives could hope to win - but which Labour could also hope to hold, if it runs a good campaign. It’s understood that both the Conservatives and Labour see it as a key battleground in the city.
How you can help
Nazia is interested in the issues people living in Erdington care about, not just how they’ll vote – and would like you to contribute to, guide and help shape her reporting. What issues are important to you? What are the problems that politicians are failing to address?
If you live in the Erdington constituency, please get in touch by filling in the form below and tell us what issues you think will decide this election. Where should Nazia go, what should she cover and who should she speak to?
Your responses are secure as the form is encrypted and only the Guardian has access to your contributions.
