Erdington shooting: Man, 28, gunned down in fatal broad daylight attack

A 28-year-old man has been shot dead in a broad daylight attack in a residential area.

Police are currently at the scene in Erdington, Birmingham, following the fatal shooting just after midday.

Ambulance crews said they found a man in cardiac arrest and despite efforts of staff "nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

The man's family has been informed and officers are investigating the incident.

MP for Erdington, Jack Dromey, earlier told Birmingham Live: "The community of Erdington will be shocked by this tragic murder.

"My sympathy goes to the victim and the family.

"I would urge anyone who knows the perpetrator of this evil act to come forward to the police immediately."

The road has been taped off and an incident support unit and police van are at the scene.

One report said the road was "on lockdown" and there were "police everywhere".

Plain clothes officers are speaking to people in the area, with reports of some locals being in tears.
