Israeli 'icon' Eran Zahavi could have been a Celtic player if Neil Lennon had his way.
The former Parkhead boss - who has opened the door on a move to Israel himself - has revealed the club were in talks to sign the prolific forward during one of his two spells in charge.
Zahavi will be in Glasgow this weekend as Israel take on Scotland in World Cup qualifying and has proven a thorn in the side of Steve Clarke over the two nations' recent regular meetings.
Currently at PSV Eindhoven, the 34-year-old scored over 100 goals in each of his spells at Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Guangzhou City.
But it could all have been rather different if Celtic had agreed a deal as Lennon confessed a transfer was once in the works but never made it over the line.

He told Sport 5: “Eran Zahavi was one of them at the time (I tried to sign), I really liked him.
“He is a good striker, an icon, influences the other members of the team, but we never managed to reach an agreement with him.
“When I coached Hibernian I watched the game between Celtic and Salzburg, and Munas Dabbur played up front and I thought he was good. I really like him as a player.
“I have not yet seen enough Manor Solomon games for me to have a real opinion, but I like the team’s right back Eli Dasa.”
