After 44 years, John Langlands will be retiring as a partner of EQ Accountants on 30 September.
He began his career with founding firm JLM as a trainee in 1977, working his way to becoming partner 20 years later.
Over that time, Langlands developed wealth of knowledge, particularly in relation to tax. His career has seen him work with a varied portfolio of business, charity and personal tax clients.
He also specialised in supporting healthcare professionals, including many GP practices.
Within EQ, Langlands took responsibility for the Amber Accounting team, which provide outsourcing solutions for payroll, bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts.
He commented: “Over the last 44 years, I’ve seen EQ implement growth strategies that have resulted in long term business success and increased profitability.
“Even in the last 18 months, which have brought significant change for everyone, it was fantastic to see how well the firm and staff responded to the unique challenges and provided exceptional support to our clients.
“Although I am sad to leave, EQ is in safe hands and it will continue to provide the highest quality service to clients and be a tremendous environment to train and develop the next generation of accounting professionals.”
Managing partner David Cameron added: “John will be missed both personally and professionally - his commitment to the firm and his clients, and mentoring our staff, is second to none.

In April, the firm combined its Cupar and Dundee offices and has been actively recruiting new talent.
