Liverpool have moved nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a victory over Arsenal, after Tottenham slipped up at Wembley.
Spurs, who were leading Wolves at half-time, succumbed to a shock 3-1 defeat at Wembley after having the chance to close the gap on Jurgen Klopp’s side to three points.
And Liverpool refused to spurn their opportunity in front of their home crowd.
After going 1-0 down after just 11 minutes, Klopp's side were 4-1 ahead by the break as they ran out comfortable winners.
Elsewhere, Fulham claimed a vital win at the foot of the table after Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a late winner to beat Huddersfield at Craven Cottage, while Watford and Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Brighton defeated Everton 1-0 while Cardiff took three points away at Leicester City.
Chelsea meanwhile have picked up a much-needed win away to Crystal Palace to move back within two points of Tottenham.
Sunday’s remaining action will see West Ham visit Burnley and Man City will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat when they travel to the south coast to play Southampton, where the champions celebrated reaching 100 points on the final day of last season.
