Epic Rams-Chiefs shootout wins ESPY for Best Game

The best game of the 2018 NFL season was undoubtedly the historic 54-51 shootout win by the Los Angeles Rams over the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only was it the first time in NFL history that both teams scored at least 50 points, but it featured more than 1,000 yards of total offense.

As it turns out, that matchup was the best game not only in the NFL, but in all of sports last season. It took home the ESPY for “Best Game” on Wednesday night.

The other nominees for the award were Texas A&M’s epic seven-overtime win over the LSU Tigers, as well as Notre Dame beating UConn 81-76 in the women’s Final Four. Rams-Chiefs, despite being a regular-season matchup – albeit, one with significant playoff implications – edged out the victory.

There may never be another Monday Night Football game like it again, or any game at all, for that matter. It was a back-and-forth thriller that had everything a fan could ask for: Fourteen touchdowns (two defensive), seven turnovers, two fourth-down conversions and eight sacks. The teams combined for 56 first downs, yet they still punted a combined seven times somehow.
