The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal remained unavailable on Thursday morning even after the scheduled maintenance period ended, leaving many members and employers unable to access key online services. The organisation had taken its systems offline for a planned database consolidation and software upgrade to improve claim processing, but the website continued to display a notice about the ongoing migration after the announced restoration time had passed.
Why EPFO services are unavailable
EPFO had earlier announced that it was carrying out a major technology upgrade involving database consolidation and software improvements. According to the official notice on its website, the migration is being undertaken "to enhance service delivery, improve processing efficiency, and provide a better user experience."
The planned maintenance started at 12 am on June 26 and was scheduled to continue until 11:59 pm on July 1. Services were expected to resume from 12 am on July 2.
However, by Thursday morning, the website was still displaying the "Scheduled System Migration & Temporary Service Unavailability" message, suggesting that the upgrade process had not yet concluded.
In an update, EPFO said that the services will be back online tonight.
