EPF interest not credited yet? 3 easy ways to check if your PF interest has been credited

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started crediting 8.25% interest for the Financial Year 25-26 (FY 2025-26) to EPF subscribers' PF accounts, and many members have already begun receiving SMS notifications confirming that the interest has been credited.

However, if you haven't received any message from the EPFO yet, there's no need to worry. The interest crediting process is carried out in phases, and it may take some time before it reflects in every EPF member's account.

Instead of waiting for an SMS, you can easily verify whether the interest has been credited by checking your EPF balance through multiple official channels. From viewing your updated passbook on the EPFO portal to using a missed call, SMS service, the EPFO WhatsApp service, here are the 3 simple ways to check whether your EPF interest for FY 2025-26 has been credited.

The EPF interest for the financial year 2025-26 (at a rate of 8.25%) has already started being credited into EPF subscribers' accounts from July 15, 2026. The EPFO processes this payout in batches, so if you don't see the updated balance immediately, it will reflect in your account shortly.

How to check EPF balance through EPFO portal

On the unified member portal, go to the section for employees and click on ‘Member Passbook.’ By entering your UAN and password, you can access the PF passbook. The opening and closing balances as well as the employee and employer contributions will be displayed. The total of any PF transfers as well as the amount of PF interest generated will be shown. The EPF balance can also be viewed in a passbook.

How to check EPF balance using missed call

If you are registered on the UAN site, you can access information by making a missed call from your registered mobile number to 011-22901406. Make sure your bank account information, Aadhaar and PAN card are seeded into your UAN. You might even request that your employer plant them for you. There is no charge for this service.

How to check EPF balance by sending SMS

Sending an SMS to 7738299899 will provide you with information regarding your most recent contribution and PF balance if your UAN is registered with the EPFO. You must transmit the following message: EPFOHO UAN ENG. The desired language's first three letters are ‘ENG.’ Therefore, type EPFOHO UAN MAR to receive the message in Marathi.

Make sure that your UAN is seeded with your bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN or update the latest information.

Will you lose the interest amount if the EPF interest credit is delayed?

According to Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme of 1952, interest is computed on the monthly running balance even if it is credited at the end of the fiscal year. As a result, the member does not suffer in the event of any delay in crediting interest to his account.

The EPFO calculates interest based on the monthly running balance, ensuring every contribution earns the full declared rate. Interest is compounded annually, so even if crediting happens late, the full amount is added to your closing balance for the year.
