Eoghan McDermott set to shockingly quit RTE 2FM after six years

Eoghan McDermott is set to quit RTE 2FM after more than six years with the station.

The 37-year-old's shock decision comes after he took unplanned annual leave two weeks ago.

He has not been on air since and is now set to walk away from the Breakfast Show he has hosted alongside Doireann Garrihy for the past two years.

Since joining RTE from Spin FM in 2014, McDermott has hosted a number of shows across TV and radio.

His decision to quit is believed to be for personal reasons, reports the Sunday World.

A spokesperson for RTE told the paper: “Eoghan is on annual leave. RTÉ has no further comment.”
