Eoghan McDermott RTE absence: Garrihy sisters share support for 2FM star Doireann as she does radio show solo

Doireann Garrihy has been praised by her sisters as she continues to host the RTE 2FM breakfast show by herself amid Eoghan McDermott's absence.

And Doireann's celeb sisters have been showing their support for the presenter as she keeps things going on the air.

Ailbhe shared a screenshot to show she was listening to the 2FM breakfast show, and championed her sister for doing such a good job by herself.

“Killing it @doireanngarrihy keep her lit,” she wrote.

Meanwhile Aoibhinn Garrihy shared a video of her two young daughters Hanorah and Liobhan dancing in their hallway to the radio show, she wrote:“We like to spend our mornings with queens like @doireanngarrihy @denisechaila on @rte2fm”.

It's speculated that McDermott will bid farewell after serving the station for over six years.

The rumours about the 37-year-old have grown after he took two weeks of unplanned annual leave recently.

McDermott has not been on the air since.

If he does walk away from the Breakfast Show, it's likely that his co-host Doireann Garrihy will have a new on-air partner and BoyleSports has made an old colleague of Garrihy's the favourite.

Having worked with Martin Guilfoyle before at Spin 1038, he's now the favourite to replace McDermott.

Guilfoyle has moved to 3/1 from 10/1 with plenty of punters confident that the duo will be working together again.

Dancing with the Stars winner Lottie Ryan is also being hotly tipped, she's priced at 5/1 from 7/1 and does have considerable radio experience.

James Kavanagh (6/1), James Patrice (20/1) are also in the mix, as are two former Love Island contestants.

Maura Higgins is a long shot at 66/1, while Love Island winner Greg O’Shea is now rated as a 100/1 shot.
