Enzo Maresca has indicated that Manchester City are unlikely to meet Chelsea's 5pm Friday deadline or pay their £120m asking price for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have had two bids rejected for Rodri , and Maresca deflected questions regarding the midfielder's long-term future at the club at his press conference on Friday.
Manchester City are considering Enzo Fernandez and Morocco's Ayyoub Bouaddi as potential midfield reinforcements while preparing to sell Tijjani Reijnders to Al Qadsiah for £51m.
Having already signed Elliot Anderson for a club-record £116m alongside Geronimo Rulli and Jeremy Monga, Maresca expressed a desire to bring in up to two further additions depending on player departures.
Maresca begins his reign with the Community Shield against Arsenal on Sunday, emphasising that he views the match as a serious trophy opportunity rather than a friendly.
