Celtic seemed to have Enzo Maresca high on their list of candidates to replace Neil Lennon only for the chance to vanish by the time Eddie Howe changed his mind late on.
But the former Manchester City youth coach is faltering in his first senior role – as he faces the sack at Parma after just six games.
Italian Maresca took the reins at the Serie B side in the summer but after six games his side sit in the bottom half of the second tier and were dumped out of the Coppa Italia in the first round by Lecce.
Tuttomercatoweb insist the coach must deliver improved results as the club look to return to Italy's top flight at the first time of asking with hometown hero Gigi Buffon back at the club.
If things don't improve before the international break, Maresca could be sent packing.
Celtic of course opted for Australian manager Ange Postecoglou and the fans have taken to the former Yokohama F. Marinos boss.
Although his side are four points off Rangers at the top, Postecoglou's brand of football has won over the Parkhead support, as have a number of his signings such as striker Kyogo Furuhashi.
He's been dealt a bad hand with injuries while having to rebuild a team through big departures like Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie.
