Enzio Boldewijn must deal with the pressure but has the quality to make the difference for Notts County says Neal Ardley

Enzio Boldewijn remains an important player at Notts County and has the quality to make the difference in the final three games says manager Neal Ardley, after the winger was booed off in Friday's defeat.

His poor performance against MK Dons saw him receive yet more criticism from the stands with supporters calling for Under-23s forwards Kion Etete and Sam Osborne to be given their chance before the end of the season - two players who Ardley watches closely every day in training and says are not yet ready to make the step up.

The 26-year-old wide man has been the first player substituted for the Magpies in their last three games and fans have been growing increasingly more frustrated with him.

Michael Doyle promises that his teammates will not give up the fight to keep Notts County in the Football League

"The players have got to deal with this pressure," said Ardley.

"Enzio is the sort of player you want to leave on the pitch because he has got that moment of brilliance in him.

"In previous weeks we have changed shape. We had to change shape down at Northampton and we changed shape last week to try and get back in the game at Crewe to solve the problems that we were facing - and Enzio didn't fit into that shape because we weren't playing with wingers.

"Against MK Dons we went 4-4-2 and we had four forwards on the pitch and I thought pulling Enzio was the right call.

"It is just one of those things, but Enzio is still an important player for me."

Boldewijn was part of Notts' three man attack who notched five goals in two games against Stevenage and Northampton less than a month ago, but all of a sudden the goals have once again dried up.

Ardley yesterday admitted that his side will have to win two of their final three games to stand a chance at survival and to do that he will have to find a way to get his forwards back amongst the goals.

"Players want to do well and when you want to do well and get you're really trying too hard to get the club out of this mess that can create a little bit of hesitancy," he added.

Neal Ardley says whatever Notts County's fate he will look in the mirror and say 'I tried everything'

"We will get to work. We know that we have got goals in us.

"I wanted a reaction from last week, and I got that in their effort and their intensity.

"We played against a good team who punished the few mistake we did make."
