Enzio Boldewijn and Ross Fitzsimons produce magic as Notts County see off Chesterfield

Brilliant goalkeeping from Ross Fitzsimons and a wonderful goal from Enzio Boldewijn helped Notts County see off local rivals Chesterfield at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies hit the woodwork twice in a frantic opening 20 minutes as Connell Rawlinson hit the post while Boldewijn hit the bar with a free-kick.

But Notts were indebted to Fitzsimons for keeping them on level terms when he dived low to keep out Scott Boden's penalty awarded after David Buchanan was fouled in the box.

Notts took full advantage in the second half when Boldewijn scored another goal of the season contender when he turned in midfield, surged towards goal and unleashed a fierce strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

The lead was doubled when Kyle Wootton headed in a fine cross from the brilliant Callum  Roberts.

Fitzsimons then produced another fine save to deny Buchanan before Wootton wrapped up the win when Boldewijn's shot was spilled by Shwan Jalal and Wootton pounced for his second.
