Environmentalist leads initiative to revitalize 100 desolate seedlings found in drains in Agra

AGRA: In an initiative to protect and nurture tress, Agra based senior advocate and environmentalist, KC Jain, spearheaded a project to rescue and revitalize desolate seedlings found in shades of drains and canals.

These seedlings, belonging to species like Banyan, Goolar, Pakhar, Adusa and peepal, often face a bleak fate due to withering or cleaning activities. However, with the collective efforts of passionate volunteers, approximately 100 saplings were successfully planted in Paliwal Park on Saturday.

On this occasion, Jain stated that as part of the campaign, each individual should save a minimum of five desolate saplings during the monsoon season and nurture them in pots or planters, allowing them to grow until the next rainy season when they can be transplanted to suitable locations. This way, significant resources can be mobilized without any financial burden, leading to a new direction towards greener landscapes. It will also enhance sensitivity towards nature.

Theater artist Anil Jain and his team, also participated in the tree plantation drive at the park. Kishor Jain, Ajay Bansal, Atul Gupta, Rajesh Khandelwal, and Santosh Maheshwari from 'Good Morning Agra'- a group of citizens from different walks of life- also contributed for saving desolate seedlings.

Advocate Jain has also prepared saplings of species like Kadamb, Molshree, Putranjiva, and Burma, which will be planted soon, he said.
