A new competition asks amateur and professional photographers alike to snap their local watering hole in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie or Port Stephens.
The winner will receive $5000 and finalist entries will be exhibited at The Duke of Wellington in February.
The owners of the New Lambton pub, Stephen and Fidelma Hunt, came up with concept, with the help of Newcastle Art Space, and sponsored the prize.
"We're a real people-focused company so I would love to see some photos of local barflies, chefs working and I also love the architecture of the old hotels," Mr Hunt said.
Newcastle Herald photo journalist Max Mason-Hubers, local photographer James Murphy and the Hunts will be judging the entries, which must be submitted by January 28. Entries open on November 1.
This competition invites photographers - both amateur and professional - to shoot the scenes at their favourite watering hole, whether it's live entertainment, cellar, kitchen or bar work, the architecture of the hotel, or the characters who inhabit the region's local pubs.
The prize is open to residents living in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens local government areas. The hotels shot must also be within these locations.
