Entrance tests for Jadavpur University English, sociology pushed back

KOLKATA: Jadavpur University has deferred the admission tests scheduled on August 11. The Arts faculty admission committee took a decision on Sunday and decided to hold the admission tests of English and sociology on August 16 instead.

The state issued a notification on August 5 and declared Rakhsha Bandhan a holiday. The festival falls on August 11 this year, when the university was supposed to hold admission tests for English and sociology. To solve this issue, an emergency meeting was called on Sunday by the admission committee of the Arts faculty.

A committee member said, "The state has declared a holiday on August 11. So, there was no other option but to change the date of the tests."

It has been decided that the entrance test of English will be conducted from 11.30am to 1.30pm while the sociology test will be conducted from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. The revised date and times will be updated on the university website soon.
