An entire year group at a Salford secondary school are self-isolating after a student tested positive for Covid-19.
Year 8 pupils at Oasis Academy MediaCityUK will stay at home for two weeks while continuing their education virtually.
It comes following a confirmed Covid-19 case within the year 8 bubble.
A spokesman for Oasis Academy MediaCityUK, on King William Street, said: “We have been advised by Public Health England of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within our Year 8 bubble.
“In line with advice from Public Health England, our Year 8 students are isolating for two weeks and teachers will support them to continue their learning at home.
“Thanks to the extensive measures we have in place, including the bubble system, the academy remains safe to open for students in all other year groups.
“We are working closely with Public Health England and following their guidance to ensure that the academy is COVID secure, and will keep parents regularly updated.”
One parent, who has a daughter at the school, fears children missing out on school could damage their mental health and education.
The woman, who did not wish to give her name, said: “My daughter is so upset that she has had three days of normality as she put it and now has to stay in for two weeks.
“Children are missing out so much; it isn’t good for their own mental health or education.
“It would have been easier to do online classes rather than sending children home left, right and centre.”
