A year group of pupils at a Swansea comprehensive have been sent home to self-isolate after one tested positive for coronavirus.
Year 7 at Gowerton School have been told to self-isolate following a positive test to one pupil who was in school last Thursday, April 22. In a message to parents, the school has advised them they will need to self-isolate until Sunday, May 2.
They will then be able to return to school on Tuesday, May 4 - the day after bank holiday Monday. In the meantime, those pupils who have to remain at home will be taught through blended learning.
A Swansea Council spokesman said: "In line with current guidance the Year 7 bubble at the school is isolating. Affected pupils will use blended learning until they can return to school."
The school is situated close to Welsh-medium school YG Gwyr, which last week also sent an entire year group home following a positive test of Covid -19 in one of its pupils. Year 8 pupils have all been told to self-isolate for ten days, along with everyone who travels to the school on one particular bus service.
