Entire WWE locker room pays tribute to 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper

The WWE roster honours Rowdy Roddy Piper (WWE.COM)

The entire WWE locker room paid tribute to the late 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper last night, as Raw opened with a touching 10-bell salute to the former Intercontinental champion, who died aged 61 on Friday.

The whole roster wore 'Hot Rod' T-shirts, while a video honouring his career aired (watch below).

Piper died of cardiac arrest.

The WWE Hall of Famer Piper was diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma in 2006, but he was cleared of the disease in November 2014.

The wrestler was famed for being one of the best heels, or villains, in his profession, and fans loved his intense "Piper's pit" in-ring segments.

He also headlined the first-ever WrestleMania in a tag-team match alongside Paul Orndorff against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.

On Saturday night, UFC bantamweight champion 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey had dedicated her victory over Bethe Correia to Piper, who she took her nickname from after being given his blessing.

"I just want to say that we lost a really close friend, Rowdy Roddy Piper, who gave me permission to use his name as a fighter," she said after her 34-second win in Brazil. "And so I hope him and my dad had a good time watching this today."
