NI Music Prize winner Ciaran Lavery releases single and announces new album

Northern Ireland Music Prize-winning artist Ciaran Lavery returns today (Jan 24) with a new single 'Can I Begin Again'.

A gritty, introspective piece of indie rock, this is the first new single from the artist's upcoming fourth album. The Antrim-based musician has achieved international success throughout his career, racking up over 100 million streams on Spotify and playing all over the world.

Speaking on the new single, Ciaran said:  " 'Can I Begin Again' was written under the encouragement of my therapist to write everything down, whether it’s rational or irrational, to just get it all on to paper. The song is for anyone, who either in their personal or professional life, have spent too long servicing the needs of others, putting their own thoughts and feelings second."

Belfast documentary company to make history at prestigious Sundance Festival this weekend

Belfast based Fine Point Films will premiere a new documentary about new wave band The Go-Go's on Friday evening (January 24), at the world’s most prestigious film festival, Sundance.

According to the makers of the documentary, this is the first film which has given a serious appraisal of The Go-Go’s talents or achievements – as musicians, groundbreakers, but even more so, as survivors.

The news of the return to Sundance for Fine Point Films follows on from the World Premiere of  ‘GAZA’  last year  - the critically acclaimed documentary on life under siege in Gaza, directed by Garry Keane and conflict photographer Andrew McConnell, and co-produced by Fine Point Films Brendan Byrne and Trevor Birney.

This makes Fine Point Films the first Irish documentary production company to return to Sundance two years in a row.
