MIAMI _ The smoke on the water Wednesday night off the MacArthur Causeway in Miami was from a fire on a 120-foot luxury yacht owned by Grammy Award winning singer and entertainer Marc Anthony.
The yacht named Andiamo was initially linked to Anthony by local news reports and the tabloid news website TMZ. On Thursday morning, a publicist confirmed that it belonged to the entertainer, WPLG-Ch. 10 reported.
Miami Fire Rescue, along with units from Miami Beach Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, were called to the scene of the fire about 7:30 p.m.
Flames and smoke from the burning yacht, named Andiamo, could be seen for several miles.
The fire was under control in about two hours and no other nearby boats were damaged, according to Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll.
The cause of the fire isn't known and there were no reported injuries.
The vessel began capsizing late Wednesday night and firefighters remained at the scene Thursday morning to monitor the yacht and watch for any flare ups.
The yacht, worth about $7 million, has five cabins, satellite television and docking stations for several personal watercraft, TMZ reported.
Marc Anthony is a two-time Grammy Award winner and a six-time Latin Grammy Award winner. In 2016 he was recognized with a Guinness World Records title for having the most year-end best-selling albums in the tropical albums' chart by a solo artist.
Anthony as sold more than 12 million albums worldwide and is considered the top-selling tropical salsa artist of all time.
