Ensure children are kept Covid-free: Kerala health minister Veena George

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Schools in the state are all set to reopen on November 1 for Classes from I to VII and X and XII with Covid-safety guidelines in place, health minister Veena George said on Saturday.

She urged parents and teachers to strictly ensure that the guidelines issued by the authorities ahead of the reopening are followed.

The teachers, on the initial days, should educate the children about Covid-19 and also about the various ways it can spread, the minister said, adding that the detailed guidelines have been sent to all the schools.

Masks are compulsory inside the classrooms and children should wear them when they leave their houses. She cautioned against children gathering together during intervals and said teachers will have to take extra precautions. Physical distancing measures are to be strictly followed during the lunchtime.

All practical classes have to be conducted only in small groups. Equipment should be properly sanitized after each use. If any symptoms are detected in any student or teacher, it should be immediately reported to the nearest healthcare centre. The children should also take a shower immediately after returning home before mingling with family members.
