Enquiries continue after three people were taken to hospital following M74 crash

Three people were taken to hospital last night following a multi-vehicle road crash on the M74 southbound near Bothwell services.

Emergency crews raced to the crash involving four vehicles near the Bothwell service station at around 6.30pm.

Drivers were urged to find alternative routes as police closed the southbound carriageway at junction 4 of the motorway for several hours.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a four-vehicle crash on the M74 southbound, near Bothwell, around 6.35pm on Sunday, December 13, 2020. A 20-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“A 20-year-old man sustained a serious, but not life-threatening, injury. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing. The carriageway re-opened around 9.40pm.”
